Whenever I work in Simi Valley in Southern California I make at least one trip to this tiny hamburger landmark called The Munch Box located in the city of Chatsworth on Devonshire St. and just past Topanga Canyon and the Chatsworth Metro station, it’s in a small shopping center that is right next to the Chatsworth Post Office.
The menu hasn’t changed too much since The Munch Box first opened 61 years ago. The menu is small consisting of burgers, fries (regular or chili) and hot dogs, along with soda and floats.
Important to note – cash only.
This place is a historic landmark and they have a sign to prove it.
The Munch Box is very small. To order you walk up to a window and place your order. Once your order arrives you sit outside at large tables under umbrellas and watch the city go by.
Here’s a cool video of Huell Howser visiting the Munch Box back in early 2000
The Munch Box is a fun little burger joint with a long history.
In my opinion the burgers, chili and fries were good and reminded me a lot of famous Original Tommy’s Burgers (another blog article coming soon). Maybe that’s where they got their inspiration for The Munch Box?
Happy eating!
