Sometimes airport food can be really bad and really expensive.

Once in awhile you find something good.

At the New Orleans Louisiana Airport there are some good restaurants with excellent southern cuisine.

Palmettos on the Bayou, Slidell Louisiana

Really enjoyed staying in Slidell Louisiana last year while working at nearby Stennis Space Center across the state line in Mississippi.

Very nice town. Lots of history here and lots of really good local restaurants with great southern cuisine.

One place we went to while there was Palmettos on the Bayou.

One thing about Albuquerque New Mexico that I really enjoy, in addition to the beautiful scenery great food and history, are the many really good brewpubs that have popped up over the years.

Accomplice Beer Company, Cheyenne Wyoming

entrance

January 2020

Last year at this time (2019) I flew into Denver airport in Colorado to arrive for my gig that week.

It was cold as heck outside, I hopped on the rental car bus and went to pick up my car where I then proceeded to drive 100 miles north to Wyoming.  I arrived in Cheyenne and located my hotel where I would be staying for a week while working nearby at a customer site.

There are not a whole lot of choices for restaurants to dine out in this small town but what they have is pretty good.  One restaurant I found and enjoyed was Accomplice Beer Company which is a happening brewery in downtown Cheyenne.

Ferrara Bakery, New York NY

New York City is a town like no other.

The hustle and bustle of the city is like being in another world, in both the future and in the past. It’s wild and weird. It’s business and art. It’s many things to many people.

It’s also not for everyone, the town can be pretty hectic and stressful at times. There are a lot of people living and working in a very crowded vertical world.

But once you learn and deal with getting around it’s not so bad.
It’s good to know how to get around, including using only your own two feet because there’s a lot to see in the big city of New York.

Union Oyster House, Boston MA

Speaking of oysters… (reference previous post)

The Union Oyster House is an interesting and historic restaurant located in Boston Massachusetts. I’m glad I had a chance to dine there.

I’ve passed by this place by several times in the past while working in the city but this was the first time I actually stepped inside and got something to eat.

One of the more interesting facts about Union Oyster House is that it is the oldest restaurant in Boston and the oldest restaurant in continuous service in the U.S. — they have been open to diners since 1826.

Fresh Oysters, Bodega Bay CA

Oysters are good both raw and cooked but oysters are also a love or hate thing, you either like them or you really dislike them. There seems to be no in-between heh!

Personally I prefer to have cooked oysters but raw oyster shooters are good too!

The best oysters I’ve ever had were at Bodega Bay California while on a camping trip.

Jim ‘N Nick’s BBQ, Birmingham AL

I’ve tried BBQ restaurants at many cities during my travels and I’ve tried many different BBQ styles (dry, wet, and all the rest). I’ve waited in a line for over 6 hours to get BBQ at a famous spot (another story). Needless to say, I really like BBQ!

While working in Birmingham Alabama last year, my co-workers who were familiar with the area recommended we go to a restaurant called Jim ‘N Nick’s BBQ, so of course I had to go check it out….

B.B. Kings Blues Club, Memphis TN

January 2018

While working in Memphis Tennessee last month I got a chance to visit and walk around famous Beale Street, home of the American Blues music.

After walking around the street for a while, checking out both sides of the street and all the shops and restaurants along the couple of short blocks, my co-worker and I decided to grab some lunch and so we headed into B.B. King’s Blues Club.
