Throughout the years, when I lived in California, I traveled to and thru Big Sur many times by all kinds of vehicles. My favorite was when riding on my motorcycle, which I’ve done numerous times.

Big Sur is by far one of the most beautiful places on the entire planet. It’s location on a rugged coastal California mountain range makes it a fairly remote destination available only via Highway 1 known as Pacific Coast Highway. This drive is absolutely spectacular.

There are many places to stop and admire the local coastal scenery on this Hwy 1 drive from Santa Cruz to Santa Barbara (or vice versa.) This is by far one of the most scenic routes to ever see!  I highly recommend driving from Los Angeles to San Francisco at least once in your life, you won’t regret it.
