Really enjoyed staying in Slidell Louisiana last year while working at nearby Stennis Space Center across the state line in Mississippi.
Very nice town. Lots of history here and lots of really good local restaurants with great southern cuisine.
One place we went to while there was Palmettos on the Bayou.
Palmettos is a destination for Louisiana cuisine in a rustic setting with a lush deck alongside Bayou Bonfouca. The views from the restaurant are outstanding.

The restaurant is in what appears to be a former house that has been added on over the years as the restaurant has grown.
There are some great old trees on the property and the large outdoor deck on the bayou makes for a great atmosphere to enjoy southern food and drinks.
My co-worker and I really enjoyed dining at Palmettos for dinner.
Great cuisine, service and ambiance.
To start had one of Palmettos specialty cocktails called Bayou Rise consisting of Old New Orleans Amber Rum, Sweet Vermouth, Peychaud, and bitters.
For an appetizer we tried the Crawfish Beignets that were made from locally sourced Louisiana crawfish.ย They were delicious.
Gumbo came with the entree and it was very tasty!
For the entree had the Catch Pontchartrain made of gulf fish, artichokes, fingerling potatoes, roasted mushrooms, bacon and poached blue crab. It was outstanding.
For dessert enjoyed the Creme Brulee that capped off a great dinner that evening.
Two thumbs up for Palmettos on the Bayou! Will definately be back next time I am working in the area.
