Speaking of oysters… (reference previous post)

The Union Oyster House is an interesting and historic restaurant located in Boston Massachusetts. I’m glad I had a chance to dine there.

I’ve passed by this place by several times in the past while working in the city but this was the first time I actually stepped inside and got something to eat.

One of the more interesting facts about Union Oyster House is that it is the oldest restaurant in Boston and the oldest restaurant in continuous service in the U.S. — they have been open to diners since 1826.

As my traveling stories usually go, one day after work a few years ago…

After finishing up our work for the week, my coworker and I went to check out the Freedom Trail that takes you on a walk thru history and time all over old Boston.

He had never been there, it was my 3rd time doing the trail and I would do it again and again, it’s a really interesting walk / tour thru Boston’s history and people.

Seriously, hiking the Freedom trail is the #1 thing to do in Boston for sightseeing,

While out walking the Freedom trail and seeing all the historic sites, we stopped for a well  deserved rest and had lunch at The Union Oyster House where we grabbed a drink and a bite to eat.

Needless to say the seafood offerings were spectacular and incredibly fresh.

 

Although I was at an oyster house, that’s not what I ordered for lunch, instead I had one of my all time favorite sandwiches, a Lobster Roll, and it was delicious!

It was great to be inside such a historic place that so many other people have been to over the many decades that it has been in business.

There is an incredible amount of history and fame that goes with the Union Oyster House. Daniel Webster, The Kennedy clan, and more have dined here regularly.
